Artistry Automatic Eyebrow Pencil + FOTD

I got this Artistry Automatic Eyebrow Pencil for review some months ago. It was delivered in two parts. The refill came first around mid-May, to be followed by the pencil itself several weeks later. Then I got infected with sore eyes which lasted for a month. So it's only now that I'm finally posting the review.

Artistry Automatic Eyebrow Pencil Holder
Like I said, this pencil comes in two parts. First there is Artistry Automatic Eyebrow Pencil Holder. It costs P610.

Artistry Automatic Eyebrow Pencil Refill
You will need the Artistry Automatic Eyebrow Pencil Refill (P545, pictured above). The one I got is in Soft Black. For your first purchase, you need to get the holder and the refill together, so your initial investment will be P1,155. When it's time to buy again, you need only to buy the refill in order to replace the tip of your pencil.

First things first. Snap on the refill on one end of the pen holder.

As you can see, the pen holder has a spoolie (mascara brush-like tip) on the other end. This is for blending the pencil strokes into your brows.

You just turn and click in order to get the pencil tip out. It retracts completely after use so you don't have to worry about it breaking off.

Here's a look at the spoolie.

Here are sample swatches of the Soft Black refill.

First fill in the sparse areas of your brows so you get a solid, gap-less brow.

Then use the spoolie tip to brush your brows in the same direction as the hair growth. This way, you blend the pencil strokes with your natural eyebrows for a natural-looking result.

If you're just after a natural look to wake up your eyes, you can use the eyebrow pencil as an eyeliner. In the after photo above I used Artistry Automatic Eyebrow Pencil on my eyebrows and upper lashline. Your eyes instantly look more defined. The color is really a subtle soft black so it lives up to its name.

So this is my eyebrow pencil only make-up look. For the above, I just did my usual daytime skincare routine put on a total of five products:
  1. Laneige Snow BB Essence Balm SPF33 PA++ in 2 Natural BB
  2. 0kuma Concealer in 01 Moisturizing
  3. Artistry Automatic Eyebrow Pencil in Soft Black
  4. Benefit They're Real Beyond Mascara
  5. Nivea Fruity Shine in Pomegranate

This is a very minimalistic look which takes all of 10 minutes tops (less if you're used to lining your eyes). If you don't have dark undereye circles and blemishes to cover you can actually skip the concealer. Remember to curl your lashes before putting on mascara for a more eye-opening effect.

What I like about Artistry Automatic Eyebrow Pencil:

  • It's very user-friendly, just click and line.
  • The pencil is not too soft and not too hard. It's just right so it's easy to apply and blend.
  • The color is not too harsh even if it's black. The effect is very natural.
  • After the initial investment, it's pretty reasonably priced since you just need to buy the refills. If you want to try the other colors, just get a different refill.
  • It's made in Japan! I have a soft spot for Japanese products.
The downside? It's harder to create wing tips and cat eyes should you decide to use it as an eyeliner. But then that's true for most pencils.
