Spent a good part of yesterday evening with friends from Starbucks Philippines. Before I share their latest offerings, let me just say that in celebration of Earth Day, Starbucks will take P20 off the price of your beverage if you bring your own personal cup/mug/tumbler/glass until April 28, 2012. It doesn't have to be a Starbucks container, any kind will do. :)
Anyhow we started off with a brief coffee-tasting session. We were given the Starbucks Tribute blend paired with Starbucks' chocolate donuts. The coffee was very smooth and rich, you can actually drink it black when paired with a food item that perfectly complements it.
Then I saw the good news... Starbucks Happy Hour is back! This means you can get your favorite frappuccino drink for 50% off every Monday from 2-6pm. They've extended the hours in order to accommodate more people.
A new drink was introduced -- Mocha Cookie Crumble Frappuccino Blended Beverage (P165 Tall / P175 Grande / P185 Venti). Starbucks Frappuccino Roast coffee is blended chocolate cookie bits (I'm guessing they use oreos), rich mocha sauce, vanilla syrup, milk, ice, and then topped with chocolate whipped cream. Yes you read right... chocolate whipped cream! It's so sinful I was glad to taste just the small sampler cup since I am still trying to lose weight. It's really good and not overly sweet. The chocolate whipped cream tastes rich and chocolatey. They have a non-coffee cream-based version called the Chocolate Cookie Crumble.
If you buy a Starbucks Mocha Cookie Crumble Frappuccino Blended Beverage from April 24 to 29, you get a scratch card which entitles you to instant prizes.
There's no "Sorry, try again!" card. You can get one of the following treats with every card which you can use on your next transaction:
- Free upsize
- Free double upsize
- One (1) free add on
- Buy one (Mocha Cookie Crumble Frappuccino Blended Beverage), get one free (any beverage of equal or lesser value)
Redemption of the free treats is until June 11, 2012.
Of course, summer at Starbucks isn't complete without new food offerings! I'll start off with the Cookie Crumble Cheesecake with Chips Ahoy (P130, pictured above). New York Cheesecake is topped with a fusion of different Chips Ahoy variants (Chewy, Chunky, and Original). Cookie bits can also be found in the cheesecake. Yummy! :D
Next up is this super cute Whoopie Pie (P75, pictured above). It's actually a returning favorite, it's like a leveled up version of the Lotte Chocolate Pie you can find in supermarkets. Two soft, fudgy, and moist dark chocolate cookie cakes are filled with marshmallow creme in the middle. I love how they decorated it with a pair of eyes. It's like something out of Toy Story.
Even more cute are the bite-sized pieces we had for sampling! These are really good. My kids will surely love them. Looking at those cute silly faces never fail to make me smile.
Two new savory treats were also introduced. First there's the Chicken Grape Almond Salad on Classic Ciabatta Bread (P150, pictured above). It's a fresh new take on chicken sandwich since it's now infused with the fresh sweetness of grapes and the unmistakable crunch of almonds.
Starbucks' Sausage Roll gets an upgrade as it's now bigger and better, seasoned with creamy cheese pizza sauce. It's now also called the Sausage Pizza Roll (P95, pictured above).
Last but not the least is my favorite savory treat -- Fish and Chips Wrap (P150, pictured above). A soft, warm tortilla is filled with herbed potato wedges and juicy fish fillet. It's accompanied with dill mustard egg sauce instead of the usual tartar sauce and it's soooo good... practically a meal in itself!
All these summer offerings are now available at all Starbucks branches nationwide (except for Fish and Chips Wrap which is only available in Metro Manila).
