My eyebrow threading experience at Zia Threading!

I had my first real brush with eyebrow threading a week ago when I went to the mall with my mom while I was in Los Angeles. I've always had thick eyebrows which I pluck by myself so when my mom suggested that we have our eyebrows threaded I was more than willing to try.

Inside Zia Threading at Westfield in Topanga CanyonWe ended up at Zia Threading which is located at the ground floor of Westfield in Topanga Canyon. The place was scented with either spices or incense and it had a very Indian feel to it, in fact the women running the establishment were all Indians. It's incredibly spacious as you can see in the photo above.

Threading paraphernalia at Zia ThreadingI was impressed at how clean and orderly everything was. Each seat had its own matching basket filled with threading paraphernalia like cotton balls, scissors, eyebrow brushes, tissue, etc. I dared to avail of a free eyebrow threading service during an event here in Manila once and I was turned off by how unsanitary the threaders were. I won't mention which establishment sponsored it but suffice to say I don't think I'm going to avail of any of their services any time in the future.

Animetric's eyebrowsOkay this is my right eyebrows prior to threading. As you can see there are a lot of tiny stray hairs under and around the arch. I told them I just wanted a clean-up and not a reshaping of my brows. :)

Eyebrow threading at Zia ThreadingI took the above photo from Zia Threading's website to show you how threading is done. I would've preferred to demonstrate with my own eyebrows but unfortunately I couldn't take my own photo during the procedure. Basically there are two long strands of sharp thread which are criss-crossed on the hairs that are to be removed. It stings and I was actually kind of teary-eyed because of the pain. Nothing that you can't tolerate for the sake of beauty though, hehe.

Animetric's eyebrowsThis is my eyebrow after threading. It's a bit red and swollen since this photo was taken right after I got up from the treatment chair. :p

Animetric's eyebrowsThis is my eyebrow a few days after. The swelling has subsided and as you can see the areas around it are neat and hair-free. The service cost US$8.99 (around P400) and took around 15-20 minutes. Would I be willing to undergo it again? Yes I would, provided I can find a hygienic and competent establishment to do it for me here in Manila.
