Are you an ICAn? If you are (and even if you're not) check this out...

My aunt handed me a book to read a couple of weeks ago. The title is "A Cut Above: Stories of ICAns Who Have Made a Difference". So yes, I am dedicating this post to all my relatives and friends who are from Immaculate Conception Academy (ICA). I myself graduated from another Chinese school... but that's another story.

A Cut Above: Stories of ICAns who have made a differenceA Cut Above is a compilation of essays about ICA alumnae who have committed to a life of making a difference.

Julie Yap-Daza in A Cut AboveIt features well known ICAns who have made their mark in society like journalist Julie Yap-Daza...

Teresita Sy-Coson in A Cut Above...and Teresita Sy-Coson, who is perhaps the Philippines' most powerful woman CEO. I think I liked her story best as it was a very interesting read (for me at least). I've always wanted to know how someone in her position thinks.

A Cut Above: Stories of ICAns who have made a differenceThere are also those who triumphed over great adversity. I can't believe the countless tragedies which spanned the book's pages. Women diagnosed with cancer, women who've been blessed with special children, and even women who've lost their children... it's really amazing how they can survive through all the trials.

The book is hardbound with glossy inside pages in full color. It's part of ICA's 75th anniversary celebration. It's also a fund-raising project for outreach programs and other activities. To order, please call 721-2687.
